Foreword by Prime Minister

Assalamualaikum, Salam Sejahtera and Salam 1Malaysia

The term ‘Digital Democracy’ is here to stay. People no longer watch leaders on television and register their opinions on polling day. Businesses no longer can claim supremacy and autonomy. Competing and projecting online had become a must for any form of publicity campaigns. The online opinion of the people, consumers and stake holders be taken into count and are now crucial decisive factors in the political, economy and social fields. Without doubt, the presence of Social Media is here to stay.

We must acknowledge that the Malaysian people nowadays have higher level of expectations, educated and had become critical in both thoughts and action. What they want is for us to implement things swiftly and in a more transparent and fairer way. In recent years, I accepted the fact that social media had become an important tool, complementing my day to day management of this country. As such, my passion towards social media and remaining connected always had made me closer to the people whom had entrusted me and my team to lead this country. Inputs, thought sharing and ideas thrown in through the social media has aspired me to serve for the benefit of the people.

I am pleased to see the initiative being taken once again by the Social Media Chambers Malaysia to stage the 5th Edition of the World Bloggers and Social Media Summit, held alongside with the Malaysia Social Media Week 2015. I am happy to witness that this year a wider array of world class speakers, social media professional and practitioners and fellow bloggers congregating here in Kuala Lumpur. It is my hope that similar events would be regularly Organised by the chamber, roping in more people to network and remain connected with each other.

Congratulations to the Malaysia Social Media Chambers for once again staging this unique event.

Assalamualaikum W.B.T

It’s amazing and I am thrilled! Over the past 4 years, I have been following very closely with interest, the various global developments- be it social, economic or political. I must admit that the world has evolved drastically particularly in this era of the New Media revolution.

Like it or not, Social media has taken the upper hand in driving (literally running) our daily lives especially in the lines of building business and social networking while expanding our global connectivity to unimaginable boundaries. So much dependent we are on the Social Media and its rich prospects that lie ahead in time. This phenomena indeed surpasses all other inventions discovered over the past centuries.

After a huge success story in 2014, we are back again for a bigger, bolder and louder version of Malaysia Social Media Week 2015! Our best feat in last year was to confer an honour to the nation’s No.1 Blogger, Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak. In addition, our Premier took the Social Media platform one step ahead by officially launching his Instagram account during MSMW 2013. It is evident that social media applies to all, and our Prime Minister wants to be real time hands on his job.

Malaysia Social Media Week (MSMW) will congregate the corporate world, governments and youths, seeking to address issues, while showcasing some of the wealthy prospects that lie in the realm of social media. Insights and visions are shared, queries are tabled by like-minded individuals congregated to learn and deliver. It’s so sensational! People from all across the globe gathered with visions and missions for a better world.

Mark your calendar! Plan up now and attend the week-long event set for April 2015. Lined up are intriguing conferences, workshops, exciting activities, you name it. All this in line with the Chambers’ mission to bring people closer through positive Engagements, Educate and share and the same time be Entertained.

Let’s thank at the same time the various Government Agencies, NGOs, Associates, Business Partners and some of the world’s top local and international speakers, Advisors Brand Ambassadors and the members of the Chambers’ family for their enormous contributions in flourishing the event.

Here’s wishing all of you to have an awesome time at the Malaysia Social Media Week 2015! Stay Connected…
